Shawn started playing music at 7 years of age. He has played on several continents and played many styles of music in many different bands. While in Connecticut, he played with Echoing August, who signed to a small New York-based label. The band played regionally, reaching audiences mainly throughout NYC in venues like the Knitting Factory, Arlene’s Grocery, and the Bitter End, as well as New England hotspots like Boston, New Haven, and Burlington. The band had the honor of having played at South-by-Southwest in Austin, TX and had multiple songs used on MTV shows, “Made” and “The Hills.” During his time in CT, Shawn additionally played with and recorded with Mike Morello, a very talented singer/songwriter.
Shawn moved to Frederick, MD from Connecticut in 2009. A drummer & percussionist, Shawn quickly felt the pull back to the stage. After arriving in Frederick, Shawn played with local Phil Campbell off and on for several years in different bands. There were some fun gigs, like one with Jimi Haha from Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, but feeling the desire to play more music, Shawn joined Misspent Youth in winter of 2015 and has played well over 125 shows with them in that time. During part of this same period, Shawn also played with Frederick local favorite Fuzzy Match.
In fall of 2017, the stars aligned and Shawn found a spot with Triple Lindy. Knowing Tim and Bob for years, it seems like a very natural transition. “The chemistry is just there,” Shawn says.
Shawn loves music – there’s no other way to put it. His musical journey has taken him many places and he hopes for it to take him to many more.
